Testimonial School Staff
“As a mum of 3 children who have attended the school over the past 11 years I can say with confidence that they have gained a great primary education. They were nurtured and nourished throughout their time in our school; they were socially and emotionally mature, making them fully ready for secondary school life. I am proud to have sent my children to Castledockrell N.S., it is a huge asset to our community”- Carmel Byrne, Parent

Why choose Castledockrell National School?
We are a small school and we will always be a small school; the benefits to which are plenty:
• Transition from Pre-school - The school has a familial feel, with children of different ages working and playing together it mirrors the home.
• Favourable Pupil Teacher Ratio - This allows us to strive for high academic achievement for all pupils.
Individualised Curriculum - From their very first day with us children receive the individual/small group help and attention they need.
• Multi-Grade Classes - Children learn from one another and become independent learners who take ownership and pride in their work.
• Active, Child - Centred Learning - Small numbers allow for hands on, activity based, discovery methods, group work, thematic approaches and integration across all areas.
• Arts Curriculum - We place a huge emphasis on the Arts; Music, Art and Drama; thus developing the whole child.
• Pupil Voice - Every pupil has voice, role and a part to play; this is explicitly nurtured throughout the school.
• Social Development - Children are more mature and they look out for one another. Younger children learn a lot from older ones while older children take on a mentoring role. Positive interactions and behaviour within the school are emphasised in our ‘Friendship Week’ and ‘Buddy Activities’. Yard time is less chaotic for younger children.
• Digital Learning -We have embraced the use of Digital Technology and now have IPads, along with our well-equipped computer room and interactive whiteboards.
• Inclusive School Community -We are truly blessed with a great network of parents and community members; whom we invite into the school regularly throughout the year for Grandparents Day, Open Evenings, Teddy Bears Picnic, Knitting Projects etc.
