N.C.B.I. FundraiserThe NCBI fundraiser has been a huge success to date, thank you to the PA for organising same.
The Parents’ Association are organising a clothing collection in conjunction with the National Council for the Blind Ireland (NCBI). All clean unwanted clothes, bags, shoes (pairs only), books, bed linen (no duvets and pillows), curtains, DVD’s, CD’s etc. can be donated. Castledockrell National School will receive €4.50 for every black bag collected. This money is invaluable in the running of the school and will go towards the purchasing of school resources and subsidising tours etc. The NCBI will then recycle or sell on the items in their shops; making this a great partnership and a wonderful Green Flag initiative. The collection will take place from Monday 16th until Friday 20th of September and all members of the wider community are welcome to donate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during school hours. Wellbeing Talk“Supporting Parents to Support their Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing”
This talk from the National Parent’s Council will take place in Castledockrell National School on Monday, 25th of March at 7.30 pm All are welcome to attend. This programme supports parents to encourage and promote positive mental health and wellbeing in their children. The programme also explores how the building of resilience in children helps them to manage and cope with the day to day stresses of life as they occur. Parents who attend this session will:

Anti-Bullying WorkshopThe National Parents' Council (NPC) will deliver an Anti-Bullying Talk in the school on Tuesday, 10th April 2018 at 7 pm. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Internet Safety Talkwww.webwise.ie a valuable resource for all parents.
The National Parent’s Council (NPC) will deliver an Internet Safety Information Evening in the school on Wednesday, 27th of September at 7.15 p.m. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. The programme looks at how children use the internet. Parents will be introduced to strategies to help their children be responsible, effective and safer Internet users. The session deals with how to talk to children about the potential dangers that they may come across online as well as the many benefits they will find. Parents will also be shown how to disable or enable safety mode on their computers. This session also looks at cyber bullying. Setting rules and boundaries around children’s Internet usage is an important aspect of keeping them safe on-line; we urge all parents to attend this information evening. Stay SafeWe are currently teaching the Stay Safe Programme in all classes as part of the S.P.H.E. curriculum. The aim of this programme is to teach children personal safety skills so they can look after themselves in situations which could be upsetting or dangerous. As outlined in our letter to you the parents, cooperation between home and school is essential to the success of this programme. Social Dance in Aid of Castledockrell N.S.On the 30th of October last a social dance and prize draw was held in Dooley’s Shed, Rathnure in aid of Castledockrell National School. A great night of fun and dance was had by all. There was tea and cake a plenty for those who attended on the night along with numerous door prizes. The winners of the prize draw were as follow:
