We welcome everyone back to school after an enjoyable Easter break.
We look forward to a busy but fun filled final term. Highlights include: the First Holy Communion, Well-being Week, Active Week, School Tour, Sports Day and much more! Go raibh míle maith agat Ronan!
Thank you so much to Ronan who very kindly brought in Easter Eggs for everyone to say thank you for our Carol Service fundraiser for Make a Wish Ireland. Bhí an-spórt againn i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge i mbliana. We had a brilliant week in school for Seachtain na Gaeilge; the highlight being our “Lá Glas”. We had great fun at our céilí where we danced An Damhsa Mór, Walls of Limerick and An Dreoilín. The parents/grandparents even joined in too! We performed 10 different songs including Ireland’s Call, Oró sé do Bheatha,Dawning of the Day, Rathlin Bog, Boys of Wexford, Grace, I’ll Tell Me Ma and of course Amhrán na bhFiann. Thank you to Helena and everyone who joined us on the morning. A special thank you to baby Jamie, the youngest member of the audience who’s only a few weeks old! The children all made a super effort to speak Irish throughout the week. Maith Sibh! We hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day. We had a brilliant day celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. Everybody in the school dressed up as characters from their favourite books; even the teachers were dressed as ‘Tiddler’ the little fish characters! We had Willy Wonka, Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Gingerbread Man, SnowWhite and many more. We all had fun hunting for Wally who was hidden throughout the school. We did a Quiz, a scavenger hunt, book bingo and a book swap. Everyone made some cool book day art and got to bring home a brand new book and some book tokens. A great day all round! The 19th to the 23rd of February was Friendship Week in Castledockrell National School.
We did a fun activity every day with our ‘buddies’. Buddy reading, buddy jigsaws, buddy art and we finished off the week by making some gorgeous loom band friendship bracelets. We designed Book Covers as part of ‘Ireland Reads’ day, Saturday 24th February. Our wonderful designs are on display in Bunclody Library. Why not pop in and have a look! We were delighted to have Eoin from the Sea Exploreres Programme and the Marine Institute with us to conduct a squid workshop ....including dissecting squid. It was a really informative and interesting morning, learning all about the squid and examining the different parts of their body....even if the classroom smelt a little fishy afterwards.
