This week the children in Castledockrell N.S. have been having a great time celebrating Friendship Week, in conjunction with Amnesty International. The children bought friendship bracelets, raising over eight euro in aid of Amnesty and also every day the children from the senior room have been a 'buddy' to a child in the junior room to encourage and promote friendship throughout the school. Each day had a different activity, including reading big books, maths games, board games, puzzles and art. Everybody had a great time as you can see from the photographs! Children in Fifth Class who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation participated in their Ceremony of Light in the church on Tuesday night last, the 10th of February, 2015. I will not play a tug o'war, I'd rather play a hug o'war, Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses and everyone grins, Where everyone cuddles and everyone wins! Sheldon Allan Silverstein We are joining hundreds of schools across the country and taking part in a wonderful celebration of friendship, solidarity and human rights! During the week we will explore: Friendship in our class, friendship in our school, friendship in the community and friendship in the wider world. -What is a friend? Why is it important to be a good friend? How can we all be good friends? How can we disagree without hurting each other? How can we stand up for others? Also during the week the 5th class will sell Friendship Bracelets for €2 each, the money will go directly to Amnesty International who work to protect basic human rights. We are looking forward to an enjoyable, fun filled week! Thank you for your support. Best of luck to the Senior Room who will take part in this years Credit Union Quiz this coming Sunday, 1st February! We know you will do us proud!
