A spooktacular day was had by all in Castledockrell NS today as we celebrate another Halloween. We started the day with our annual Halloween Hike in our spookiest costumes. This was followed by a fashion show and lots of fun Halloween games, including Spider webs, Spooky Halloween Bowling, Building Marshmallow Towers, Eyeball Obstacle course and Create your Mummy. This year our Halloween competition was a baking one and we were so impressed with the array of spooky treats on offer. Earlier in the week we had lots of Halloween art and pumpkin carving too...... Happy Halloween to everybody!

We had a great week of maths in school this week as part of the national Maths Week. We were all wearing our maths eyes, taking photos of maths in the environment, maths all around us in our everyday lives. The senior room participated in an online maths quiz with schools from all over the county, we did lots of problem solving, construction tasks, team work, maths games, a maths trail and maths involving chocolate.....this was probably everybody's favourite as it involved eating the chocolate afterwards. On Friday last Colin from 'Flew to You' came to visit our school and brought with him a Hawk called Captain America and a selection of Owls called Cookie, Phoenix, Nero and Gizmo. It was a really informative and interactive morning with the children having lots of opportunities to observe the birds up close, hold them and watch them fly around the classroom. A really enjoyable morning for us all. |
