It was a bright but chilly morning in Castledockrell when the school set off on their annual Halloween Hike through the local village and then back to the school for some welcome hot chocolate and cookies before joining in lots of Halloween fun and games. Children dressed each other up as mummies, had a Halloween quiz, a pumpkin ring toss, Halloween balloon popping, a scavenger hunt, Halloween art and lots, lots more. There were lots of treats along the way, and one or two tricks also.

A BIG thank you to everyone in the school community who contributed to our clothing collection in conjunction with Bags2School. We had a huge amount of bags donated by parents, grandparents, staff members, past parents and people from the community. We are delighted to announce that we raised €318.33 for the school with a 10% donation going to LauraLynn Children's Hospice. Thank you again for your invaluable support. We will hopefully hold another collection in the new year. As you know the Parents’ Association are running a clothing collection to raise funds for the school in conjunction with ‘Bag2School’.
By getting involved in this Bag2School collection you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles. In addition, it will raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse. What’s accepted? Adult and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, handbags, scarves & soft toys Please NO duvets, pillows, bedding, curtains, blankets, towels, charity shop items or damaged/stained clothing. The clothes have to be of good quality for reuse in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. The LauraLynn House will also receive an additional 10% from Bag2School. The LauraLynn House is the only Children’s Hospice in Ireland. Please try to fill as many bags as you can, don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out too! You can return clothes in any kind of bag. The ‘Bag2School’ van will be collecting on Thursday morning the 14th of October at 9am. Bags can be dropped off outside the school on that morning or on Tuesday,12th & Wednesday,13th October between 8.30am-3.00pm at the school gate. Many thanks for your support.
