Zoom “Zoom is a free video conferencing platform that can be used through a computer desktop or mobile app, and allows users to connect online for video conference meetings, webinars and live chat” Castledockrell National School would like to hold our weekly Friday morning assembly on Zoom. We would love all of the children to join us for our assembly at 10 am(if possible). Don’t worry if you can’t make this week’s assembly, we will do a class zoom call next week. What do you need to do?
1) Dress appropriately (regular clothes-no PJs) 2) Be aware of your surroundings (pick a room that is quiet-be mindful of noise from other people and pets) 3) Mute your microphone when you’re not talking 4) Be respectful of all participants 5) No food allowed (we don’t want you dropping crumbs all over your keyboard) 6) Stay seated and stay present 7) Adult supervision is requested (For further information and guidelines please have a look at Webwise) At tomorrow’s assembly I will ask all children to share what the highlight of lockdown has been for them, so maybe they would like to think about this in advance. This will be a first time attempt so please bare with us and ask for support/help if you have any difficulty. Thank you for your cooperation, Deirdre Ryan Some special messages for our wonderful 6th class pupils from some well known faces. Full video will be available today from 10am on www.childrensbooksireland.ie. Class of 2020!
To our wonderful students, we miss you all! Well done for adapting to the current situation and staying at home for the past 9 weeks. We know its been difficult, we know you miss school and miss seeing your friends and relatives, but this won't last forever. In the meantime, keep up all of the great work that you have been doing at home with your parents-every little bit helps. Thank you for sending in some great photographs of what you have been up to, keep them coming! Stay home and stay safe. Ms. Ryan, Mrs. Stone and Ms. Johnston. A special message for second class and their families on what should have been their First Holy Communion Day.
I am delighted to announce that Castledockrell National School has made it to the finals of the Irish National School Photography Awards. Ava Skye Byrne's photograph 'Junk Couture' has been chosen and is now one of the top 22 finalists in the competition. Congratulations Ava and best of luck.
Two other entries from the school were also highly commended by the judges; Huw Byrne's 'Handy Storage' and Nathan Whelan's 'You see a paper bag, I see my next art project'! Well done boys. Dear Parents,
We hope that everyone is keeping safe and well. Please find attached work for the week ahead, the 11th-15th of May, for all classes. The SeeSaw app will be updated daily also. Some of you may have the SeeSaw app downloaded onto your phones; the app can also be downloaded and accessed on up to 10 different devices so it may be worthwhile downloading it onto the IPad/tablet or onto the laptop (go to app.seesaw.me) that your child uses for their home learning (if possible). Thank you to everyone who has sent in photographs, emails and what’s app of your children’s work and activities; we really enjoy getting these and being able to provide feedback to the children. We would like to thank Fr. McDonald for dedicating a lovely mass this morning to our second class children, who were due to make their First Holy Communion next Sunday. We know that Shifra and Luke are disappointed that their special day has to be postponed; we are all disappointed because the First Holy Communion is always a lovely occasion for the entire school community, but we know that as soon as Fr. McDonald is allowed he will reschedule. We hope that you all have an enjoyable and safe week. Yours sincerely, Deirdre Ryan On behalf of the staff and Board of Management of Castledockrell National School. Fr. McDonald is dedicating mass this Sunday morning, 10th of May, at 10 am to all of the children in the parish due to make their First Holy Communion. Go to churchmedia.ie, then click on Marshalstown to watch it on the webcam.
