Dear Parents,
We hope that you are all having a lovely summer break. As you are aware the Board of Management, supported by the Parents' Association, have been trying to put an Afterschool Childcare service in place within the school for the coming school year. A childcare practitioner, Kayleigh Power, who has other wonderful childcare services in the locality, was sourced and had agreed to work with us in setting up this service. A huge amount of time and effort went into the paperwork involved in setting up the Afterschool. Unfortunately, after many weeks of trying Kayleigh has been unable to find suitably qualified staff to run the service. There is a huge staffing crisis across the early years and childcare industry, and she had highlighted this concern to us from the start. As today is the first of August and we are without a qualified practitioner we cannot apply to Tusla for approval of the service (approval can take up to 3 months). We are very conscious that there is only a month before children return to school and we are fully aware that parents will need to sort an alternative childcare option. We are disappointed that the service will not be in place for the new school year and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will revisit the prospect of an Afterschool Childcare at our next meeting and we hope that it will be possible to establish at a later date. Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, 30th August. Kind regards, Deirdre Ryan On behalf of the Board of Management |
