In preparation for St. Patrick's day we are celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in the school. We have lots of fun activities underway and all the children are making an extra special effort to be 'ag caint as gaeilge' as much as they can in the classroom and in the playground. We are having a table quiz, céili, traditional Irish music session, lá glas, when everybody will dress up in as much green as possible. For more photos on the different activities, please visit the school activity section of the website. We are getting ready for a big weekend of rugby here at Castledockrell N.S. The children have been busy learning the Haka.
As part of their preparation for their Confirmation, Fifth and Sixth class celebrated the Ceremony of Light last night in the church. This is a symbolic ceremony where parents pass on a lighted candle to their children, symbolising the passing on of the light of faith. It was a lovely ceremony with music, singing and prayer. Well done to all the boys and girls.
Well done to Joe and Jessica in Second Class who made their First Confession on Wednesday night, the 8th of March 2017.
Well done to all the boys and girls and teachers, who dressed up as their favourite book character today, to celebrate World Book Day. The children spent the morning doing quizzes, buddy reading and art activities. It is great to see everybody getting so much enjoyment from reading. |
