Great fun was had by all the students and teachers this week with our Halloween celebrations. Halloween activities included: pumpkin carving, making Halloween bracks, mask making, pumpkin collages and monster making. On the 24th all the students and staff were in fancy dress for their annual Halloween hike, followed by Halloween games back in the school. The winners of the Halloween writing competition were Joe Byrne from Junior/Senior Infants, Katie Fitzpatrick from First/Second Class, Steven Byrne from third/fourth class and Darren Levingstone from fifth class. Congratulations and well done to all! We hope all families enjoy a safe and spooky mid term break. On Tuesday evening, the 21st of October the doors of Castledockrell NS were open to all parents and the wider community. The aim of the evening was to showcase the children's work and to view the facilities available in the school. A great crowd was in attendance on the night to chat to the fifth class pupils who gave presentations on different projects that they have undertaken in school since September. Ms. Ryan gave a presentation on the school which was followed by a musical performance from the children accompanied by their music teacher, Ms. Helena Dunbar. Proceedings were brought to a close with some poetry, written by the children. Everyone then enjoyed some tea, cake and a chat! The Board of Management and Staff of Castledockrell NS are delighted to invite all parents to an open evening on Tuesday, 21st October 2014 7-9pm We hope you can join us for displays, presentations, music and refreshments.
