We had great fun in the senior room today making a home made hoover, a wind powered car, a bedside table lamp and a walking robot dog! Great teamwork and patience was needed to complete this task, but the end result was worth it!
Today we enjoyed an end of year music session with Helena our music teacher. Everyone sat around in a circle and one by one everyone played a tune/sung a song of their choice. When the other pupils recognised the tune/song they then joined in and played along. By the end of the session we had played/sung over 30 different songs!! For example: Rakes of Mallow, Easter Snow, Maggie in the Woods, Ode to Joy, Circle of friends, A Million Dreams, Rathlin Bog, Raglan Road, Lucy Farrell and This Is Me. We even included a few great Wexford songs; The Boys of Wexford, The Purple & Gold and Boolavogue to get us in form for the Leinster final this weekend. We finished the session with the graduation song "5 Years Old". Keep up the music practice over the summer holidays everyone.
Today we bid farewell to our five 6th class pupils. We are very proud of the mature, confident, independent young people that they have become over the past 8 years with us. We wish them nothing but success as they make the move to secondary school. We have no doubt of the bright future that lies ahead of each one of them. Slán go fóill.
A massive thank you and well done to Ava who completed Hell & Back last weekend and raised over €500 for the school and another €500 for Pieta House. We are so proud and so thankful to this great girl!
Our End of Year/Graduation Mass was a lovely occasion. Thank you to everyone who came along, and a special word of thanks to the pupils and Helena for the beautiful singing and music. Click here to see the 6th class graduation slideshow.
The sun was shining for our Teddy Bears' Picnic today; young and old came along to enjoy a busy, fun filled morning. There was face painting, balloon modelling, cup cake decorating, art & crafts, teddy bear hospital, tattoos, a puppet show and games. We were delighted to see so many little people here, as well as parents and grandparents. Thank you to Tina from 'Oddsocks Entertainers' for providing entertainment. We hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did. Don't forget our Teddy Bear Picnic tomorrow from 10 am - 12. It is going to be a great day with face paints, balloon modelling, art and craft and so much more.
Today the children visited the farm of Joe and Edel Doyle, where they got an insight into farm life. We watched the milking robot in action, saw the cows coming in to be fed and listened to information about the system of farming in operation there. This was followed by a really interesting talk from Eddie and Ian from Teagasc, who took us on a walk up the fields to visit the weather station and the wells. From there we went to the local stream, where we looked at the bug activity in the stream and learned how we can determine the quality of water by the bugs living there. A really interesting day, a huge thank you to Joe, Eddie and Ian for taking the time to talk to us. On Wednesday, 21st of June the school visited Carlow I.T. for our school tour with 'Just for Fun'. As you can see from the pictures the children had a busy day, but a really great day. they participated in so many activities through out the day from bouncing castles, to the wrecking ball, air mountain to rounders, obstacle courses and of course the disco dome. We all enjoyed a refreshing ice cream before we made the bus journey home, A great day was had by all! |
