The sun was shining in Altamont gardens when we arrived on the 9th of October for our Autumn Field Trip. We met with Paul, the head gardener who gave us an interesting tour of the gardens, telling us lots about the history of the house and the wonderful trees growing in the garden. We saw lots of the wildlife that live there also and even managed the 100 steps. We finished our tour with a scavenger hunt before boarding the bus with our treasure. On Wednesday, 9th of October we visited Bunclody Library where we met the author and illustrator Tatyana Feeney who read one of her best selling books 'Eva and the Rain' for us. She then answered lots of questions about being an author and how she takes an idea and turns it into a wonderful book. It was very interesting to learn a little about the life of an author. This was then followed by a lovely art activity. Thanks to Tatyana and Bunclody Library for allowing us this great opportunity.
We were lucky enough to be able to squeeze in a visit to Bunclody playground as part of our trip on the 9th of October. As you can see from the faces great fun was had by all. We look forward to this years' Halloween competition- Pumpkin Carving!
All children are asked to bring in a pumpkin of any shape or size on Thursday, 24th of October for this carving activity. There will be two prizes awarded in both the Junior and Senior Room. One of our pupils has been busy growing her very own pumpkin for the occasion! |
