Today, Monday 19th December was another busy day for the children of Castledockrell N.S.! Today was our Christmas Arts and Crafts Activity. The children started by making Christmas Wooden spoons. The children transformed basic woodens spoon to the most creative Christmas Decorations, including reindeers, snowmen, santas and elves. They than made handprint reindeers to hang on their Christmas trees. A big thank you to the parents who came in to help with the crafts.

The service opened with a beautiful rendition of 'Oiche Ciun', followed by a marvelous performance of 'When a Child is Born'. The children from the Junior Room performed a play 'Born in Bethlehem' which was followed by the Senior Room performing 'O Holy Night'. The Communion Carols included Away in a Manger, Drummer Boy and a musical version of Silent Night. The evening was brought to a close with all the children on the alter singing many favourite Christmas songs, including Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Hosaana Rock, Santa Claus is coming to town, Rocking around the Christmas Tree and Frosty. It was a great night and thanks to all the children for their hard work over the past few weeks. thanks also to all of those who came along to support us on the night.
Today we received some great news in relation to the Wexford County Council, Christmas Recycling Decoration Competition, 2016. Congratulations to Luke Byrne (5th Class) on winning a Highly Commended Prize and Grace Smith (6th Class) on winning a joint 3rd prize in the competition. They are both invited to attend the prize giving ceremnony, next week in the County Hall. Well done to you both and everybodty else who participated.
Thanks to all the children for all their hardwork busking in Supervalu, Bunclody on Friday last. A huge thank you to all the parents who helped transport the children to and from Bunclody. We would also like to thank Supervalu for allowing us the opportunity to perform in their shop, And of course we would like to thank all of those people who donated so generously on the day. |
