Dear Parents,
We hope that you and your families all continue to be safe and well, and that you had an enjoyable Easter weekend.
As you are aware the current Covid-19 restrictions remain in place until the 5th of May and all schools will remain closed until further notice.
We thank you again for your ongoing engagement with the work teachers assigned before the Easter break; your support and efforts are greatly appreciated. Teachers will continue to assign schoolwork on a weekly basis; an email will be sent out every Monday containing an overview/guide for the week ahead. This work is suggested work and is by no means mandatory. Teachers will also endeavour to touch base with individual children during the week to offer support, guidance, to help with new learning and offer feedback.
With this in mind and to continue the excellent progress that children have made so far this year we would like to send home the rest of their school books, copies and work packs. On Thursday 12th March when we got word from the government that the schools would close that very day, we only sent home some of the children’s books, thinking that we would return to school following the two week closure. As the closure continues to be extended we feel it is important that children have all of their books at home to support their learning. This Saturday, the 18th of April I will go into school (permission has been granted by the Board and the Department of Education for principals to carry out essential work), I will collect all of the children’s books etc. and place them in piles on the front wall of the school. All parents are invited to come at a specific time to pick them up. Strict HSE protocol and recommendations will be in place; only one adult should come to collect, either a parent or a designated adult (under 70), 2 metres social distancing must be adhered to at all times, books will be organised using gloves and good hand hygiene, only one car should be outside of the school at any one time (please come during your designated time slot only). Many parents live within a 2km distance of the school but parents who live further away please let us know if you cannot collect your child’s books. I would also like to add that if any parent is uncomfortable with coming to the school and collecting books there is no obligation to do so. I know that this is far from ideal but we feel it is the best option at present. (Please see your allocated time below)
If you require any support or guidance with schoolwork or anything else, we the staff are happy to help out in whatever way we can. Please feel free to contact us by email or call: Ms. Ryan 086 8728285, Mrs. Stone 087 6570189 or Ms. Johnston 087 7942883.
Continue to stay at home and stay safe.
Yours sincerely,
Deirdre Ryan
