Dear Parents,
We hope that you and your families all continue to be safe and well. We thank you for your cooperation and punctuality collecting the children’s school books on Saturday.
Please find attached schoolwork (home learning) for the week ahead, 20th-24th April, for each class group. This work is also uploaded to the school website under the tab ‘Home Learning’ so senior room children can access their work there too. Again, we would like to reiterate that this assigned work is just suggested, not mandatory. We encourage all families to engage with it and to do whatever you can. We would prefer if children did less work and did it well instead of rushing trying to get all of the work completed; every child and every family situation is different.
We thank you again for your ongoing engagement and support. Some children are wondering will the work be corrected; they may be thinking what is the point in doing this work etc.; I would reassure them that all of this work will be corrected. Every bit of work they do and every effort they put in is for their own benefit. To motivate and encourage them parents, or the children themselves, might like to send on photographs/emails/voice messages etc. of their learning. Even communicating with one another about their work might help to keep them motivated and on task. Senior room children can self-correct some of their work, for example their Mental Maths answers are uploaded on to the website.
We understand that Irish is going to prove the biggest challenge for most families; don’t stress over it, simply give it a go. The best thing to do is to log on to https://www.folensonline.ie and use school log in details to log in, username [email protected] and the password is harvest1. This will allow them to access all of the ‘Abair Liom’ stories/poems/activities that we do in class. Children are used to doing this in school and should be able to do this independently.
Teachers will endeavour to give feedback and guidance to pupils when needed. If you require any support with schoolwork or anything else, we are happy to help out in whatever way we can. Please feel free to contact us by email or call: Ms. Ryan 086 8728285, Mrs. Stone 087 6570189 or Ms. Johnston 087 7942883.
Stay safe.
Yours sincerely,
Deirdre Ryan
