Dear Parents,
We hope that you and your families all continue to be safe and well.
We have reached the end of term 2 and the Easter holiday is here; this year is a very different and surreal Easter holiday for so many reasons. For the moment, the school will remain closed until Monday, 20th April, but there is a possibility that this could be further extended. We await word from the Department of Education and Skills and will of course keep you informed.
We thank you sincerely for your ongoing engagement with the work teachers have assigned over the past three weeks; your support and efforts are greatly appreciated. We encourage you to take a break and to enjoy the holiday, as best you can. We would love if parents could send in some photographs of activities/work being done at home; whether it is reading books, baking, gardening, physical activity, learning a new skill, helping out around the house etc. These photos will help to encourage and motivate other children to engage with tasks, and it will provide children with a connectedness at this strange time. Also, we would like to invite all children to create a piece of Easter work to publish on the school website/Facebook Page; a piece of Easter art, an Easter poem or story, lego creation etc. whatever they choose! Again, this is so that children know that the effort they are putting in and the work that they are doing matters, is valued and is important.
I will ring all families over the coming days to ‘check in’; but again, if you require any support or guidance with schoolwork or anything else, we the staff are happy to help out in whatever way we can. We too are adapting to this new, extraordinary way of life. Please feel free to contact us by email or call: Ms. Ryan 086 8728285, Mrs. Stone 087 6570189 or Ms. Johnston 087 7942883.
Finally, continue to keep those who are at the front line of dealing with this national emergency and their families in your thoughts and prayers, especially those from within our community. We are thinking of you all at this time and thank you for your continued support. Happy Easter to you all and stay safe.
Yours sincerely,
Deirdre Ryan
